India is a land of colourful festivals celebrated by different caste, creed and religion. But national festivals are something, which binds the entire nation together, imparting a message of 'unity in diversity'.
Republic day is one of the prominent national festival celebrated every year on January 26 with utmost enthusiasm and the zeal. This year India will celebrate its 71st Republic Day .

Importance of Republic Day
Constitution came into force and the country was declared as the largest democracy in the world. After India gained Independence from the British rule on August 15, 1947, it was felt that there was a need for a written constitution to run the country systematically. After this, a committee was formed, which was headed by Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar
to draft the constitution.
